i am happy for all of your relationships!!!
some nasty guy shows up at our door asking for winnie. sure. he comes in, goes to her nasty room and they chat or do whatever. that's fine. three hours later, we hear the shower go on and muddled voices of winnie and her friend. me and becky exchange looks... and then becky says, "Walter" and i'm like, "Oh! Right."
half an hour later, the front door rattles and Walter walks through. i'm like, "If you're here... then WHO's in the shower?!" then we exchange looks again...of realization, horror, and utter, utter disgust! we look down the steps and the shower is still on - and we hear Winnie and the guy chatting it up... in the washroom, with the shower on... what the fuck?! HUH!?
i don't care how she decides to orient her lifestyle... gay, straight, bi-sexual - WHATEVER!
but don't be showering it up with random girls or guys alike in our bathtub, giggling and doing who knows what in there! OR AT LEAST WAIT UNTIL NO ONE IS HOME to be nasty!! eewww what the hell... is going on!!!
we went to The Keg for my dad's birthday at 6PM. we waited exactly three hours for our table. at 9:00, everyone was uber cranky. my oldest (brother) called out the assistant manager and started bitching about the wait, bitching about the dirty wine glasses, just generally bitching and threatening to leave. keep in mind, he arrived late and only waited for one hour while the rest of us waited since 6.
they gave us a free bottle of wine.
i asked for a strawberry daquiri, and the guy asked me if i was over 19. i looked at him, and i said, "Yes. How old do I look?" which i now realize is a deadly question to ask any man, as there are no correct answers. he replied, "Younger than 18, or 19" and that's the moment i hated him.
i think my youngest brother had a little too much wine. he kept saying to me, "what light through yonder window breaks?"; "get thee to a nunnery" and other random shakespeare. and every two seconds, he'd tell me to stop eating carbs.
my dad wanted ribs because (like me) he no longer likes steak. we both looked at the menu for it, and i said, "the prime rib?" and he said yeah, so i ordered it for him.
what came out was this red nasty roast thing, and my dad looked confused and i'm like, "Is this rib??" stupidly, me and my dad both didn't know that prime rib was different from normal ribs. did you? (if you did, don't make fun of me. i'm sheltered)
the waiter overheard, and he insisted on changing it for us even when my dad kept saying it was okay. but the waiter was really nice and kept insisting because it was my dad's birthday, and basically took it away and came back in five minutes with this plate with the most humongous juicy delicious looking ribs i've ever seen.
then they came out with this really big cake too. but my brother wouldn't let me eat it because he said, "too much carbs." it was an ice cream cake.
Hi Marilyn,
First of all I'm sorry the apartment was a disaster when you moved in. Unfortunately, we didn't own the place at that time. There is no way Michelle or I would ever rent a place out that isn't spotless let alone as filthy as you said it was.
As for the rent increase I will drop it to $5 month so it will be $405 for yourself and Becky. Someone will have to take responsibility for the hydro bill and we will need to set that up later (in Aug).
I appreciate you girls are clean and considerate tenants, I hope we can have another good year. Maybe you guys should think about hiding a spare key.
Thanks,
Scott
Hi Marilyn and Becky,
Please forward this email on to your roommates as I only have your email addresses.........
We are working on getting all of the leases and tenants set up for the Sept 08 - Aug 09 period. I just wanted to touch base with you about a few changes to make sure you guys will be staying and that you do indeed have someone to fill Winnie's room.
First change is that all rents are increasing slightly.......
New Rates as follows affective September 1, 2008
Marilyn's room will be $410.00/mth
Becky's room will be $410.00/mth
Ira's room will be $385/mth
Winnie's room $425/mth
Second change is that all units will now be responsible for paying their own hydro bill. We will continue to pay for heating and other building utilities. For your unit (C) the average monthly bill will be approximately $100/mth divided by the four of you. We will have to make arrangements with Waterloo North Hydro to have the billing changed over to your name for September 1st.
No one likes to hear about rate increases however just so you know your rooms are still the cheapest in the house. All of the other 12 rooms in the house pay minimum $450 up to $475 and once you guys move out your rooms will be rented at $450 plus hydro as well. Please feel free to call me if you want to discuss the changes.
Please confirm that you still wish to remain in your unit for next year and let me know if you have someone to fill Winnie's room so I can get a lease signed as soon as possible. If you don't have someone please let me know and I will post the room for rent and start showing it right away.
Hope all is well with school, Becky you're doing well -you haven't been locked out for at least a month :)
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,
I wanted to let you know that you can start posting the room for rent and filling Winnie's room. In addition, I heard about the changes and I just want to discuss the rent increase with you.
The main thing that attracted us to the place was the rent and the fact that utilities were all inclusive. We were told by the previous landlord that the place was going to be all cleaned up for all of us and the carpets were going to be steam cleaned, etc. by the time we moved in - it was something he was adamant about. When I moved out of the place I previously lived at, we were required to make sure everything was clean and all of our belongings were gone before we moved out. But when we got here, the place was a complete mess.
No cleaning took place at all and you could tell that the previous tenants just left their mess for us. The bathroom was the worse of it. The tub had this horrid stain and there were cobwebs and spiders that infested it; the refrigerator was absolutely disgusting (with leftover rotting food), the previous tenants left so many of their things behind that we had to dispose of for them; and the bedrooms were dusty and dirty. It's really not something I can exaggerate, the place was inhospitable.
Me and Becky spent a week cleaning and scrubbing and killing spiders and vacuuming and mopping. Actually the first time we met you, you caught us cleaning the fridge. The point is, we worked really hard beyond imagine and it took a lot of hard work and effort to make that place livable for us - even when the place was already supposed to be clean, at least, moderately for us.
The reason we're happy here is we worked so hard and we keep the place in good condition as best to our ability. It makes it so much more difficult for us to leave. Now with this sudden increase in rent and having to pay for these significant cost of utilities every month, I feel helpless because we already made the decision and the preparations to stay and now that our rent has increased, we have no choice but to accept it. I am sincerely asking you if we could at least continue paying $400 for our rooms for next year. We have no living area, a very narrow space, one bathroom for four people, and we live in the basement. It's harder to clean, there's constantly insects and spiders, and we constantly have to bear the sound of footsteps and loud noise and music above us. We are willing to pay for the hydro if it is something we are responsible for, but I just want to know if Becky and I can keep the flat rate of $400 for our rooms. We are really thankful to have you as our landlord (especially when you rescued us when we locked ourselves out) and we wish to continue living here.
Thank you Scott for everything,
Marilyn Luong
i hate my OB prof. she's so carefree and laidback and seems to have these humorous conversations with all the students except for me and i have a sneaking suspicion that she hates me! SHE IS SO BIASED with the kids in our class.
if you don't believe she hates me - let me give you an example!
today she posed a hypothetical case where if her car won't run and she can't get to work, then what are her possible options? after everyone exhausted the obvious options, i said, "Couldn't you just call in sick?" it was supposed to be a joke! and she's the type to laugh at these things and tease you (and i swear she would have done that had ANYONE else said what i said), but instead she looked so grim and said that that was unethical and then i felt like shit!
now i'm not the type to kiss ass, but participation is worth 15% and if she don't like me, she won't know me, and when it comes to giving me my marks, i am not going to get bull. so i have to kiss ass, and kiss it good.
i just got back from hotpot with the boys, and i feel somewhat disturbed and somewhat sexually harassed (don't ask why). i came back and started taking some pictures of my place for the girl i'm subletting out to. considering i never take pictures (even when i sometimes try to make the effort to), i am taking this opportunity to give you a little tour of my tiny casa.
upstairs. you can see the lovely recycling bins <3 src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2119/2199154238_d8af5671f1_m.jpg">
kitchen. it's pretty spacious, i love it
cupboard/sink area
becky is adamant on protecting her $200 ikea table set, so we have to eat on dollar store tablecloth lol. that's my TV in our faces - we always watch while eating
these very steep stairs lead to the basement where the bathroom and our rooms are. these are also the famous steps where i fell and twisted my ankle because ira put the stupid spider on the window sill which distracted me
this is the washroom, post-toilet crisis. back to normal, spick and span because of becky and marilyn's awesome cleaning skills. you can see our bath mats hanging to dry from yesterday's incident. winnie came home and scrubbed all our bathmats like a good girl so i'm not angry
me & becky occupy the top two shelves. lol all winnie and walter have is a toothbrush and toothpaste
our shower
ira's room. a tiny room for a tiny person. picture from a month ago when justin, james and vinson raided our house while we were working on operations assignment. ira loves monkeys
then they raided my room
becky's room. i took this picture like an hour ago. she has a lot of stuff
some old pictures of my room. it's actually bigger than it looks in pictures
my beautiful desk that i love too much
spidey returns!!!
my open closet/door area. it makes me feel like i'm living in a dorm, but that's okay. i actually like that my clothes are visible and easily accessible
and just for kicks, here's an old picture of me eating at our favourite place (the new one): ye's sushi!
**warning: this may get a little graphic
i have to be detailed so that you have the full grasp of the situation
so this story all begins with me taking a crap.
i flushed, it went down. what can i say? this was yesterday at 1PM. i left the house at 3:30 to go to school - someone was in the washroom. winnie.
accounting ended early so mike, jacey and i went to Morty's to meet up with lilian/farah/justin/monica/james/shannon/kevin for dinner. i got home at 8:30pm, i take a look at the toilet bowl: basically poo water comprised of brown flecks and white bits floating around, the sides masked in globs of poo. clogged- i was horrified.
becky came into my room and we were laughing our asses about it. i told her it might have been me because i took a crap that day. i asked her if she was the one who was in the washroom when i left, and whether or not she saw if it was clogged then but she said she was sleeping.
basically all night we'd come out of our rooms respectively to try to flush it and see if it'd go down by itself (we don't have a plunger). we tried again this morning to no avail. after class, me and becky were eating lunch and watching tv together upstairs and winnie was in the washroom yet again downstairs (her door was open and walter wasn't home). becky leaves for a delta gamma meeting, and i go downstairs to wash my hands. i look at the toilet seat and there's a brown fleck on it! i look closer and it's wet! i look at the floor & our bathroom mats were half wet! i prayed that winnie took a shower while we were upstairs and that was just water... but sadly, it was not just water, folks. i yelled out, "FUCKKK!!!"
becky came home. we were fuming about the situation together, and then ended up laughing about the nasty ass situation. i mean come on, if you're gonna friggin overflow the toilet, don't leave all the nasty water everywhere on the floor and on the toilet! our fucking roommate needs to clean that shit up! (no pun intended).
this is my home away from home, i don't want to walk into my washroom and step in a puddle of poo water, sit on the toilet with my ass wet from the seat. we knocked on her room door really loudly and for a long time - so she must have made her mess, and scrammed through the back door while we were still upstairs. she was trying to fix her mess too with our toilet brush used for CLEANING to try to unclog the toilet. it had poo flecks all over it, and the brush holder resembled a bowl of poo water. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH HER?! who leaves a washroom in that state! just because she ain't living with us next year, doesn't mean you treat OUR place like a farm where you just make a mess where you please.
i asked becky how we were going to clean the bathmats, and she's like, "Let's just throw it out in the snow." i'm like, "okay!" so we threw all four of them out in the snow on our front lawn along with our toilet lid cover. then we started swiffering the floor while trying to fix the toilet (keep in mind, we were laughing our asses off the entire time!!!) then i'm like, "That's it, I'm getting a plunger!"
me & becky trek all the way to lilian's house to get a plunger. by the time we got back, walter got home and he helped us out and joined us in our "fun." i plunged the toilet a couple of times, didn't work, tried again for a while... and it FINALLY flushed! becky swiffered the floor again, i found some cleaning products (along with a toilet bowl cleaner since psycho roommate smothered our original one in poo) and i scrubbed that toilet 'til no tomorrow. walter put the pooed toilet bowl cleaner in the garbage and helped us clean up.
we all went upstairs to get the bathmats from outside, and we wrote a note to winnie on the white board that basically said: "remember to take out the garbage tonight, did you overflow our toilet? we cleaned the washroom, can you scrub the bathmats? and clean up your crumbs upstairs (her crumbs were all over everywhere, and she left her nasty fudgicle stick on our dining table! that is so gross)" but we phrased it in a nicer way, and stuck the white board on her door to read if she decides to come home and face the mess she left for us to clean. with the exception of our snow-covered bathmats, our washroom is back to normal - nice and clean. the end.
thank you x100 to lilian and jackie for their plunger. if it wasn't for you, there still would be poo.
i really like my section because everyone's in it. there's only one guy who mildly irritates me, but i don't feel too threatened by him. then again, it might be too soon to tell. in addition, there's no guy i could possibly be attracted to in that class (UGGGLLAAAAAAAY) which means i get to focus more on school and an added bonus, i can come to class looking like shit without really caring. this is my year! oh yeah, someone responded to my summer sublet ad on facebook which means may may doesn't have to pay pay! whoooooh
it all starts off with lilian, saying to me, "justin has something to tell you - and it's really bad."
i replied, "if it's going to hurt me, don't tell me. you know how I'm sensitive!"
she kept saying how bad it was, and then after a while she says, "justin wanted to let you know that peter and mary jane got a divorce" to which i replied, "THAT'S IT?!"
yeah, what the fuck?
the writers wanted the dissolution of peter parker and mary-jane watson's marriage so that they could have more breadth in creating story lines that are fresher, and that reaches a new generation of audiences -- it now involves a peter parker, a single man, in his 20's, and on the prowl.
to sum up in a nut shell: aunt may is dying, peter makes a deal with the "devil" (Mephisto) to alternate timelines so that peter and mary jane never marry and thus erase 20 years of spider man history - all to save auntie. again people, what the fuck.
i actually don't mind the end of peter parker and mary jane, but to end it so unrealistically and uncharacteristically is just plain insulting!
well, harry's back at least.
every term there's SIFE Bookswap (formerly Ace) and i'd say it's the best way to sell all your used crap because students will buy anything.
on the first day of classes, the professors always tell you whether or not you should buy the required textbook new or used. for all the books that you can buy used, we all wait for the day of the bookswap to make our purchase. this is because they keep changing damn editions, so if we have the opportunity to buy used, chances are, we most likely will.
in this case, that used book is for organizational behaviour II.
the problem is, all third year BBA students have early morning classes from 8:30 to 11:30am, while bookswap opens at 9AM. if you're really desperate, you skip the class. if not, right when class finishes, all the business students come rushing to SIFE to get that one OB textbook.
since mike isn't in BBA, me and kevin got him to get it for us. because of mike, i got a $120 textbook and $50 casebook retail for $35. i'm pretty ecstastic. when me and shannon went after class, the cheapest textbook was $115 and that didn't even come with the casebook but he had to buy it anyway. i just wrote this blog entry to brag. hahaha
some are my failed resolutions from last year
- be more active and eat healthy
- eat less on campus
- stop wanting a boyfriend - pretty sad, but it is something that i do a lot and i think i'd have a healthier personality if i stopped acting so pathetic
- attend all classes
- read, do homework, study
- don't procrastinate
- take guitar lessons
- no naps
last night we watched juno. it's cute
i had dimsum this morning at tremendous and now i feel sick to the stomach, but i am pretty sure it's not from the food though. i love tremendous so much that even if i did perchance get food poisoning, my biased point of view refrains me from admitting it.
the rest of the afternoon i laid in bed ill, my dad forced me to down medicine and i slept my day away. i know i lack lustre, spare me
i might watch a movie tonight, but what is there left to watch?
2007 was an ugly year. most of last year's resolutions fell through and i've realized that more attainable goals need to be set. so here you go, the resolutions (slash goals) of 2008.
- master guitar chords, and learn to play one song
- take more pictures!
- eat everything, lose nothing (reverse psychology)
- no skipping class to sleep
- eat less on campus, and refrain when possible from ye's all-you-can-eat sushi
- keep being exactly who i am and never change for anybody
new year's was great, mainly because i got to spend it with my favourite people.
(for those favourite people i did not spend it with, you're still my favourite people too)
me, charis and vanessa met up with seth and henry downtown and had dinner at a japanese restaurant - what was the name of it again vanoo? we went to milestones and had three pitchers of sangria where ira and jacey met up with us. we got to nathan phillip's square at 11:45, i tried to look for a bagel but i gave up and then me and charis were behind everyone and somehow they all disappeared and we desperately looked for them to no avail, so it just ended up me and charis counting down together. but it was a really good night =)
and in the end, i got my bagel
happy new year, friends.
