This video just spoke to my heart.

Albert Tate is one of my favourite pastors. He is funny and he speaks straight up truth right through your heart. No sugar coating. He tells you what you need to hear. I love his messages and I love his delivery. This one video just pierced me. Please if you have the time to even just stream it on in the background, listen to this one sermon and let God's love penetrate your calloused heart.

September is the season for change.

I used to be very adverse to change but something inside me now craves for it. I love picking up and moving somewhere different. Whether it is another house, another city, or another country - you can probably tell that I love change.

Even with furniture arrangement, I love moving things around and giving things a fresh look.

As I lament the end of summer... the end of long strolls in the city, beach volleyball, hiking through Gatineau park and delicious Stella Luna visits, I am looking forward even more to what the fall and winter will bring.

For one, moving into a brand new place is enough to excite me months in advance. The thought of endless snuggling with my honey watching scary movies, cooking endless recipes together in our kitchen, and having PANTRY SPACE to store everything. I can't wait.

Secondly, going to Costa Rica since both of us deserve a real vacation where we don't have to plan anything. It will be awesome just having a good mix of adventure hiking up the volcanoes, and relaxation on the beach. I have been aching to get off this continent (the last time was 4 years ago) and go somewhere fun and exciting and this is the time.

Third, having my first Christmas in Ottawa. I know it sounds a little sad to be away from my friends and family, but with the new house closing on the 22nd, I won't get to go home for Christmas this year. In a way, it makes me a feel a little relaxed. Every year that I've lived in Ottawa and I've come home for Christmas, my schedule has just been packed. Breakfasts, lunches, dinners, just catching up with friends. It's great but it can be exhausting, especially when you just want to take the time off to relax. 80% of my time with friends is eating, driving far to get somewhere, and getting stuck in traffic. Plus, it's been so expensive and time consuming having to travel back and forth home. I can finally set some roots into this new life I'm creating in this wonderful city.

I will definitely miss summer but the next few months are going to just awesome.

Look, this is it. I've had enough with being treated differently by those I consider my friends. Is there something about me that makes people want to treat me badly or treat me as if I'm not a human being with feelings?

I haven't seen you in three months. We got along really well and I missed you and of course I wanted to see you. You initiated having lunch with me about three weeks ago. You cancelled last week at the last minute and it was cool, so we went today instead. Firstly, we work in different buildings and I agreed to meet you in your building so it took me ten minutes to walk out of my way to see you. You were late. So we went to the park to have lunch. We had lunch but you were just acting absent the entire time. You asked me a question so I tried talking to you, but you would keep interrupting me while I was talking. It happened twice in five minutes, and it just made me want to get up and walk away from you. If you didn't want to spend time with me, why bother initiating the lunch? I asked you if you were okay and you said you were fine, just tired. That was no excuse to act as if you didn't want to be there.

You began to ask very non-interestedly, as if you didn't even care what the answer was, "So how's that guy you're with? That guy.. what's his name...?"
"Michael?"
"Oh is that his name." It's clear you don't give a shit.

Then your friend spotted us and came to say hello. You face lit up and all of a sudden, you were your normal, jovial self. Apparently you have not seen this friend of yours in a while too. You congratulate him on his engagement, and then he sits down and just takes over the conversation. You two then start to talk about all the music festivals that are happening in the city, and about vacations you're going to take. The whole time I am thinking, so are you going to leave now? Wouldn't the normal social conduct be to say hello, recognize that she's with another friend, and then leave? Nope. He just stays the entire time and then all of a sudden, its 1:05 and we have to get back to work.

I hug her goodbye and walk away thinking, wtf was that.

I've been having a lot of strange interactions with people lately and I am convinced that there's something about me that makes people act this way. Needless to say that this was a horribly unsuccessful lunch (I didn't know you could fail at lunch) and if she could have at least apologized or shown some sort of care for what happened, I wouldn't be as pissed as I am right now.

One: Appreciation. Ask graciously, receive generously.

Two: Understanding. Don't shoot the messenger and overreact in anger.

Three: Belief. Have faith instead of doubt.
