To my friends and lovers, after several months of waiting and waiting I have finally received this beautiful sticker on my passport which entails me to sojourn in South Korea as a foreign language teacher for a period of 1 year.
The interview was 5 minutes long, but the wait was an hour and a half and you are stuck in a room with other prospective English teachers going to Korea. It was nice chatting to other people and getting fresh perspectives, but it also makes me dead scared. This one guy learned the freaking language in preparation for the trip whereas I can barely struggle an 'annyong.'
The interview questions were, exactly:
- What is your full name?
- What is your date of birth?
- Why do you want to go to Korea?
- Do you have any teaching experience?
- Do you know anyone else living in Korea?
The good thing was that they issued my VISA right away, saving me another trip downtown. 8 more days!
