...was a whole lot better and less dramatic than mother's day (overall).
charis and vanessa went with me to get my dress back from dixie mall. i am finally relieved i found something to wear for the wedding after this endless and futile search for dresses.
my dad was drunk so he spent almost the rest of the night napping it off. my brother got me a camera from fuji:
it's an updated version from my black camera (finepix z2) and it's pretty cool
here are some pictures from yesterday, aka father's day for only the luong family:
my mom pretending to eat and posing while i test out my new cam-cam
my dad acting silly before he disappeared to take his night-long nap

tuesday, there was a power outage at my workplace and its surroundings. the backup generator came on for the lights, but the computers wouldn't turn on. my manager had to go to a meeting downtown and he told us to inform him when the power would go back on but they never did. we just sat there reading magazines, playing scattegories and sudoku competitions.
at 10:30 i called my boss and let him know the power never came back on. he told us that if by 12 the power did not go on, we could go home! and guess what, it didn't go back on. i took the highway home and it took 10 minutes as opposed to 30-40 with all the rush hour traffic. it was awesome
that day, it was supposed to rain in the night too and i was so excited because it was my excuse for skipping class. but the weather cleared up and by 5, it was bright and sunny so after a while of contemplation and moaning and groaning i dragged my butt out of my house and went to waterloo. i feel more guilty for skipping class than burning gas when prices are up in the 130s.
last weekend we celebrated vitor's birthday downtown. i returned a whopping 8 items which i ordered online, which i blame on the evils of the forever 21 website. we ate carribean food and then went to vitor's place for drinks.
our last Go Bus was scheduled to leave at 12:20, so we left at 11:50pm. it took 10 minutes to walk from vitor's apartment to the eglinton subway. it took 17 minutes for the subway to get to union and we were SURE we weren't going to make it. at 12:17, me and charis ran like mad women from the subway all the way to our Go Bus stop. it was crazy! very dramatic. and we ended up making it right on time
the drive up there was nice but going back was uber insane. it was raining like crazy and trucks everywhere splashing mist. trucks stupidly driving so close to me and flashing their bright ass lights to literally blind me.
one instance in particular, i was driving in the middle lane (i was beside a huge truck for the moment) and all of a sudden the truck starts switching onto my lane really fast without signalling. it was the scariest moment of my life. i was THIS close to being completely totalled by the stupid truck driver who didn't for a moment check their blind spot. i quickly changed lanes and honked the shit out of him.
i almost died! i know this is crazy to say but i have this strong feeling i'm going to die in a car accident and i no longer want to be in these kind of situations. it just heightens my insecurity
on saturday, the entire family, friends and relatives went to Thanh's aunt's house at jane & finch to bring them the pig and chinese cakes. i had to videotape the entire process while my mom yelled at every moment because i couldn't be in ten places at once.
after an unsuccessful ongoing dress search, i've decided (when cleaning out my closet) that i might wear my prom dress to the wedding. i've only worn it once and it's not the type of dress that you can rewear to just any occasion. we'll see if i can get it altered at a length i like
